The relaxing lounge area

The lounge is a 30msq living space and is the oldest part of the house – just look at the original beams and ancient stone.

We wanted to keep the authenticity of this house and in doing so we have chosen original Vendée furniture with modern touches that will ensure a comfortable stay.

The exposed stone is original to the house and so are the old beams. A curious fact dating from the time the house was built: two oak tree trunks hold up the ceiling beams.

From the lounge an open plan staircase designed and fitted by a local craftsman takes you up to the mezzanine.

The lounge opens up at the rear onto a small courtyard at the back of the house. It’s the perfect place for an aperitif or breakfast. The kitchen is accessed off the lounge through a stone archway.

Equipment in the lounge

In the lounge there is a sofa and armchairs and a wonderful old sofa bed with a beautiful canopy – perfect for a reviving little nap.

The open fireplace is a lovely feature that can be used during the cooler months for added comfort and warmth. Wood can be supplied on demand at an additional cost.
A flat screen TV offers French TV channels and foreign channels through a freeview system.

In the wardrobe (originally belonging to Aunt Pauline) there are books in French and other languages, DVDs, and board games. The Vendee chest holds a mini HiFi system.

If you wish to receive calls from family or friends a cordless telephone is available for you to use. It can be found on the mantelpiece, and as this number is ex-directory, we will give this to you when you book.

A table and 4 chairs are handy if you wish to eat in the lounge.
