The Marais Poitevin
The Marais Poitevin – the famous Poitevin marshes are a ‘Grand Site de France’ man made – from the wetlands also known as ‘Green Venice’ areas to the Aiguillon bay, this region is a must on your list of areas to be explored.
The Vendée coastline
With its 250km (155miles) of coastline, beaches and two islands: the Ile d’Yeu and the Ile de Noirmoutier, from l’Aiguillon sur Mer to the Sables d’Olonne the whole coastline is waiting to be discovered.
The Puy du Fou
This fantastic theme park offers a vast array of unmissable and legendary shows with a cast of thousands during the day and into the night and a ‘Son et Lumière’ show that has won international acclaim.
Near to the Vendée
The Gîte de la Gravée is only a few kilometres from the Charente Maritime department.
La Rochelle
La Rochelle has a sea port, a marina and is a fortified city and is a must to visit during your stay.
The coastal islands of the Atlantic
The ile de Ré, and the ile d’Aix will give up their secrets to you when you visit, cross by bridge or boat and collect your holiday memories on these beautiful islands.
The Charente coast
The Aiguillon bay extends from Vendée into the Charente region and can be explored on a boat trip taking you along the coast.

The local village and other places nearby are less well-known but are full of charm and we encourage you to explore them during your stay.
Saint Michel le Cloucq
Your holiday home is set in the village of Saint Michel le Cloucq on the edge of the Mervent-Vouvant forest, a few kilometres away from the town of Fontenay le Comte and not far from the Poitevin marshes.
Fontenay le Comte
Fontenay le Comte was the capital city of the former Lower Poitou area, rich in history and only a five minute drive away from the gîte.
The Mervent
The Mervent , with its forest and lake is the invigorating lung of Vendée and Saint Michel le Cloucq is on the edge of this beautiful area.
